Tuesday Tutorial - Gift Bag/Box

Hi and welcome to my first Character Cafe Tuesday Tutorial of 2010,

Supplies required for this gift box/bag are

8.5" x 11" piece of card,

Ribbon, scoring tool, scissors, hole punch, edging punch, and a Character Cafe Image.

I have used the poinsettia.

Down the long side of the card score at 2", 5", 7", and 10"

then down short side of card score at 2" and 7",

as above photo.

then cut along the two inch line leaving just one flap,

as the photo shows below.

Also cut down the score lins as shown below.

so this can be folded to make the base of the box.

On the single flap you did not cut off, I used a edging punch to make a fancy edge.

I have used double sided tape to show you where to stick,

this is one side where I have stuck on the side edge and along the two edges of the main bottom piece.

Then on the inside of the other large bottom piece.

I would have usually used wet glue here,

Stick the side of the box/bag together first, then the bottom that has the two rows of the tape on,

so that the two side flaps stick to this, then the other large bottom piece which covers the rest.

I used my hole punch to put two holes in the flap,

marked these with a pencil onto the front of the box/bag, and then hole punched them out as well, so they lined up.

I printed out two of the character cafe poinsettia coloured them using my whispers pens,

cut the flower part out, and using double sided pads, or pop dots and made it into a decoupaged topper.

Stuck the Character Cafe Poinsettia image to the front of the box/bag and thread matching ribbon through and tied into a bow.

And this is the finished product, ideal for all kinds of gifts,

Kendra's), Daisyd's-maybe baby collection D.P., "Puppy love" digi from TCC, coloured with water colour pencils and sentiment & hearts by cloud 9 design "rain dots words and shapes"

Tek Tuesday with Meredith! All In One Pocket Card!

Hello Everyone!! Welcome back after the longggggggggggggggg holiday break!!! I'll start the new year off with an easy peasy pocket card!! I know it may seem SUPER simple to some of you but I'm still wading into the waters of tutorials so for anyone 'new' joining us don't be intimidated by tuts...they are super helpful and so inspiring!!

Again, I do research to find just the right thing to present every other week so this week I was thrilled to see that one of my stamping idols, Nichole Heady from PTI has posted her tutorials as links for anyone to download on her blog.

I used the pocket card and I am THRILLED at how cute it came out and how easy it is!!

Step 1: Cut your cardstock at 6.5 x 5.5

Step 2: Score vertically at 2.75"
Step 2: Score Horizontally at 2.5
Step 3: Remove lower left hand square

Step 4: Corner round lower right hand corner (you could use an embellished punch as well)

Step 5: Add adhesive tape to either side of your "pocket"
Step 6: Adhere your pocket
Step 7: Decorate!

I used Party Bernard Bear as my image. I colored him with my Copics and my Sakura gel pens for a bit of sparkle. I backed him with the flip side of the background DP with the clouds on it. I tied a matching buttony bow and voila!! Super cuteness, no? ;)

I used mine as a money holder but you could use it for gift cards, bookmarks, coupons for good behavior, etc!!

Tek Tuesday - Holiday Card Holder!!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Almost Christmas!!!
I cannot believe it's in 2 days!!! I have an ADORABLE and SUPER easy tutorial for you today!! I know that everyone probably has different ways of hanging your holiday cards that come in this time of year and until this year I've always snuggled them in my tree. But I don't think that always does them justice because some get lost in the branches, bent, etc. So I've created a hanger that reminds me of card hangers that my husband's Step-Grandmother used to make.

I started with an oversized tag that I bought in a pack ages ago. The Boston Globe JUST put out a large, poster sized calendar that I don't need so I'm using as background paper...which is JUST so perfect!!I backed the calendar paper with PTI's Smokey Shadow - I've been loving this color lately!!
I've also been insane for pom poms lately as well!! I'm making a bunch for ponytail holders for my daughter!! And they COULDN'T be easier to make.

You take any yarn and wrap it around 2 fingers for smaller pom poms or 3 or 4 fingers for larger pom poms about 50 or so times. Depending on how dense you want it to be.
I made mine out of red and white yarn which obviously reminded me of candy canes!!! I chose to use Remy The Reindeer image with the banner that says Happy Holidays!

I colored Remy with my Copics, glittered him up, and then flocked him!!! He's sooooooo cute and fuzzy in person!!!I backed him with the same PTI Smokey Shadow cardstock and used pop dots to add him to the jumbo tag calender background. You'll also notice (in the finished images) that I circled the 25th with my glue pen and used black glitter to surround it as well as the number itself which is covered in red glitter.
I attached my pom poms with Velcro dots as they seemed to hold better than glue dots to the yarn. I added a scrap of black ribbon so that I could use it to hang from and then lastly I added a longgggggggggggggggggg strip of sheer, green ribbon.
I then hung my greeting card holder and again used Velcro dots to stick the photos to the ribbon. As the ribbon is sheer, little sticks to it easily.

Tuesday Tutorial - Tri Shutter Card with Scamp.

Good Morning All, I (lilacanglia) have been asked how to make a Tri Fold Shutter card,

This is the first time for me as well, and believe me it is not hard,

I found the measurements for this over at Splitcoaststampers.

For this card you will need -

5.5" x 12" card stock,

backing papers of your choice,

Images of your choice,

I have used Christmas Scamp, I just adore this image.

and this is suitable for my friend as she has 3 cheeky dogs.

Score the card on the long edge at 2" 4" 8" and 10"

the on the short side measure in 1.5" and from the 2 score line cut till you get to the 10" score line, repeat this on the other edge of the short side,

Once the two cuts are done,

you can fold it like the photo below.

Then you can

Cut 4 pieces of patterned paper 1 7/8” x 1 3/8”. Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper 1 7/8” x 3 7/8”. Cut 1 piece of patterned paper 2 3/8” x 3 7/8”.

these will make fantastic layering pieces like I have done below,

make sure they are the right sizes before you stick them, once you are happy then stick them.

I have used nice bright colours for mine.

I printed and coloured christmas scamp with sakura pens,

used mirror board, holographic board and plain coloured board for the layers.
