Tek Tuesday - Holiday Card Holder!!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Almost Christmas!!!
I cannot believe it's in 2 days!!! I have an ADORABLE and SUPER easy tutorial for you today!! I know that everyone probably has different ways of hanging your holiday cards that come in this time of year and until this year I've always snuggled them in my tree. But I don't think that always does them justice because some get lost in the branches, bent, etc. So I've created a hanger that reminds me of card hangers that my husband's Step-Grandmother used to make.

I started with an oversized tag that I bought in a pack ages ago. The Boston Globe JUST put out a large, poster sized calendar that I don't need so I'm using as background paper...which is JUST so perfect!!I backed the calendar paper with PTI's Smokey Shadow - I've been loving this color lately!!
I've also been insane for pom poms lately as well!! I'm making a bunch for ponytail holders for my daughter!! And they COULDN'T be easier to make.

You take any yarn and wrap it around 2 fingers for smaller pom poms or 3 or 4 fingers for larger pom poms about 50 or so times. Depending on how dense you want it to be.
I made mine out of red and white yarn which obviously reminded me of candy canes!!! I chose to use Remy The Reindeer image with the banner that says Happy Holidays!

I colored Remy with my Copics, glittered him up, and then flocked him!!! He's sooooooo cute and fuzzy in person!!!I backed him with the same PTI Smokey Shadow cardstock and used pop dots to add him to the jumbo tag calender background. You'll also notice (in the finished images) that I circled the 25th with my glue pen and used black glitter to surround it as well as the number itself which is covered in red glitter.
I attached my pom poms with Velcro dots as they seemed to hold better than glue dots to the yarn. I added a scrap of black ribbon so that I could use it to hang from and then lastly I added a longgggggggggggggggggg strip of sheer, green ribbon.
I then hung my greeting card holder and again used Velcro dots to stick the photos to the ribbon. As the ribbon is sheer, little sticks to it easily.
I hope you enjoyed my simple and fun tutorial today!! Happy Holidays everyone!!!

And many thanks to the Fabulous Gals at TCC for having such fun images for me to work with!!!!

Tuesday Tutorial - Tri Shutter Card with Scamp.

If you're looking for the LAST STOP of the 12 Hops of Christmas... go HERE Don't miss your chance to get in on the super Blog Candy (including a Copic Airbrush System!)... draws will be held Dec. 18th :)

Good Morning All, I (lilacanglia) have been asked how to make a Tri Fold Shutter card,
This is the first time for me as well, and believe me it is not hard,
I found the measurements for this over at Splitcoaststampers.
For this card you will need -
5.5" x 12" card stock,
backing papers of your choice,
Images of your choice,
I have used Christmas Scamp, I just adore this image.
and this is suitable for my friend as she has 3 cheeky dogs.
Score the card on the long edge at 2" 4" 8" and 10"
the on the short side measure in 1.5" and from the 2 score line cut till you get to the 10" score line, repeat this on the other edge of the short side,

Once the two cuts are done,
you can fold it like the photo below.

Then you can
Cut 4 pieces of patterned paper 1 7/8” x 1 3/8”. Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper 1 7/8” x 3 7/8”. Cut 1 piece of patterned paper 2 3/8” x 3 7/8”.

these will make fantastic layering pieces like I have done below,
make sure they are the right sizes before you stick them, once you are happy then stick them.
I have used nice bright colours for mine.
I printed and coloured christmas scamp with sakura pens,
used mirror board, holographic board and plain coloured board for the layers.

Here are close ups of the finished card, before I added personalisation

I do hope you will give this a go,
look forward to seeing your finished projects,
you could combine them with the Character Cafe's friday challenges.

Thank You for popping by,
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did making the tutorial for you.

Feature Friday - Freebie Challenge

Hey Bloggers!

Today's Feature Friday is not our usual. As you hopefully know by now, we're hosting some pretty scrumptious BLOG CANDY to celebrate the Holiday Season!!! Yeah, including a Copic Airbrush System and 12 TCC images :) You totally want to get in on the action!!!!

So, this week, Kelly and I decided that we'd give you another freebie in addition to Rosebud to play with... We picked Miss. Priss because she's got major attitude to go along with Rosebud's sweet innocence.

This is what we were thinking...
Use one of our freebies to make something (anything your heart desires), post it and voila, a ballot in the tree for our 12 Hops of Christmas prizes, including the Grand Prize. Simple huh?!

But wait, there's more... the more challenges you enter, the more ballots you get... So, if you enter our challenge, 1 ballot... if you also enter 3 other challenges (like the Etsy Inspired Challenge - which we're sponsoring on Saturday for instance!) you'll get a total of 4 ballots in the tree!!!!!

We figure this will be easy for lots of you since a great deal of you already enter challenges... AND we're not putting any other restraints on our challenge but to use one of our images!!! We're even offering you 2 freebies to choose from too, just in case you don't have any.

Here's some samples that we've created for you...

And a fab creation from Kelly (check out her colouring! It rocks)...

Now, here's the freebies in case you don't have any TCC images :)

Our new Artist, Maddy created this little Chibi, Rosebud (ain't she cute?!)

Well, there you have it! Even more chances to win :) Our draws will be made on the 18th of December for all winners. If you need more information on our 12 Days of Christmas Hop and haven't checked it out yet, START HERE. There are some fabulous creations I must say!

Also, our DT are out in blogville this week, enjoying themselves participating in other challenges so check out what they're doing if you have a chance, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you :)

Heather, Billie, Sara, Lola, Rachel, Deanne, Diane, Angie C, Piali, Fink and our Tekkies, Meredith and Angie E!!! Don't forget to try and use one of our Tek Tuesday project ideas for your challenge entry to receive another FREE TCC image just because (and an additional ballot!).

Enough of my blabbering... gotta get some pain meds in me I think!!!
Happy crafting,

Tek Tuesday!!! Altered Gift Bag!!

If you're looking for the end of The 12 Hops of Christmas (and the fabulous Blog Candy up for grabs - including a Copic Airbrush System!), you want to go HERE... If you incorporate Tek Tuesday with the Freebie being offered, we'll add an additional ballot to the tree for you!

Hi Everyone!!! Welcome to another super fun Tek Tuesday!!!

Today I will be showing you how to alter all of those really nice store bags that you get when you shop...particularly this time of year.

The bag I started with was a store bag that measured 10 x 10. I found paper that matched the pretty chocolate brown that the bag color that was my base. It's all past season SU! holiday scraps. I then chose my image, Christmas Scamp and he's the CUTEST!!

I measured the DP mattes one inch down for each design.

I matted the images together and sewed 2 of them together using red thread.

I then colored Scamp with my Copics and Sakura gel pens. I used Stickles to glitter-fy his hat trimmings and then sprinkled white velvet flock over that. It's SO cute and 3-D in person!!

I added some embellishments and adhered it all together. I then put a plain piece of cardstock on the back (or you could embellish both sides!!!)
I then used my SU! word punch to punch out the handle on both sides of the bag.

You could tie a ribbon or fibers here for an easy closure or add a small magnetic snap!!

It's SUCH a fabulous way to recycle the bags rather than use them to take your lunch to work in!!! They are better than that!!!

I wanted to share with you my inspiration for this bag. A LONG time ago...my darlingist friend Joanne, who was our SU! demo, taught us how to alter a simple and so affordable paper bag. You could easily do these for goodie bags for a child's party for SO much less than buying the themed ones!!!

But I digress. Joanne showed us how to do this and I was HOOKED!!! I've used it over and over and am surprised that I'm just now showing you this!!
Thank you for the inspiration Jo!!! AS ALWAYS!!!
Thanks for visiting!! And have fun altering!!!
